Spring in Northern California is a very beautiful, diverse and long lasting season. Blossoming can first be seen around the end of January and continues through the end of the rainy season in May. This amazing time of year is one of the most favorite times for photographers. There are many locations in the Sacramento area that I can offer based on your preferences. Always keep in mind that, due to the variety of blooming plants and weather conditions, blooming times will vary.
The first to bloom are the almond orchards. They are blanketed in gorgeous flowers by the middle of February. Endless receding lines of stunning white-flower covered trees will make an amazing background for your family pictures.
Mustard fields also start blooming in February. They are a perfect location for bright, colorful, and extraordinary photography backgrounds. The perfect time to do a session and catch the best natural light at this place is the “golden hour”, which is one hour before sunset.
Do you like pink? Fruit orchards with pink blossoms will be blooming in early March. There are not many flowers on the trees, but the colors are wonderful. They will emphasize the natural beauty of your family.
One of my favorite places in the Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln area is this place with amazing rows of blooming trees covered with white flowers. This location will be available for spring photo sessions beginning in early March for about 3 weeks. This location is very popular among local photographers during the blooming period. If you want to avoid the crowds, please book your session on a weekday evening.
If you like a variety of spring colors and flowers, there is a garden located about an hour drive away from Rocklin. In addition to the great variety of flowers and blooming trees, the garden also features a small lake and a stunning foothill view. For that area I would recommend weekday evenings because the garden is not big and can be very busy during the weekends. The blooming season here starts in early April and lasts for about three weeks.
Wildflowers in our area start blooming April and are awash with blue color. In the fields with wild grass and lots of short flowers, their beauty is complemented with stunning water and rock views. Together, they create a magic background for your pictures.
Another field with tall white and blue wildflowers will bloom towards the end of April. You don’t have to drive too far because this field is close to Roseville. It will be an amazing photography location as well.
The spring finale is the queen of all flower blooms — the Rose. Rose blossoming peaks during the first half of May. This time a year the rosy bushes are covered with splendid flowers of various colors.
Pick your favorite location make sure to book in advice because the number of spots is limited.
Any location will be perfect for family, maternity, baby, or kid’s session. The blooming period for each location is very short and depends on weather conditions.
